Tone is one of those revered, yet elusive, concepts when it comes to an electric guitar.  Outside of a few standard benchmarks, like harmonic resonance, balance, clarity, and sustain, good tone is almost totally subjective, and, is nearly impossible to validate or quantify.  As they say, "good tone is in the ears of the listener".  So, to say that one guitar has superior tone to another is often simply a matter of personal preference.
